Thirty years ago, a group was formed to engage in the restoration of Lakeside’s historic old hotel, The Hotel Lakeside.  This group was determined to save the hotel from possible demolition and hence became known as The Friends of the Hotel Lakeside.  They are dedicated to preserving and upgrading the facility.  Through membership dues and fundraisers, over the years the Friends have successfully decorated 85 percent of the rooms, redone the lobby Marine Dining room and front porch.  Rooms have been refurbished with new wallpaper, paint and antique furnishings.  All this has been done with the help and cooperation of the Lakeside staff and Board of Trustees.
