C. Kirk Rhein, Jr., Center for the Living Arts

Fine arts and crafts foster new friendships, eager learners and dedicated teachers at the C. Kirk Rhein, Jr., Center for the Living Arts.  Weekly schedules may include classes ranging from watercolor and oil painting to crocheting and knitting.  Rock painting, a timeless Lakeside tradition, offers generations the opportunity to gather on the porch and enjoy each others company while painting rocks.

Located in the historic Epworth Lodge at Walnut Avenue and Sixth Street, the C. Kirk Rhein, Jr., Center for the Living Arts is a bustling place evoking laughter, smiles and treasured memories. Classes are offered four times a day, in two-hour sessions. Some of the courses are five days long, others are only one session.  Come and learn a new art and meet other Lakesiders.

How to Register for Classes

During the season, an open house is held every Sunday afternoon from 1-3 pm at the Rhein Center.  Students have a chance to meet the artists, see the projects for the week and sign up for classes.

Often more people sign up for classes than the Rhein Center is able to accomodate.  After all prospective students are signed up, a computer lottery system randomly chooses students and creates rosters for each art class.  Registration for classes during the week is also available if space permits, however your best opportunity is to register on Sundays.  Classes change from time to time, so please review the schedule for updates
