The Tartan Terrors

Date

Jun 23, 2017
08:15pm – 10:30pm

Location
Hoover Auditorium (map)

Back by popular demand, “North America’s premiere Celtic band,” The Tartan Terrors, will perform a lively concert featuring music, comedy and dancing.

The Tartan Terrors are a new brand of Celtic music, mixing the energy of rock & roll with the tradition of Irish folklore, dance and humor.

Since 1996, the Canadian troupe of singers and dancers has combined the piping of a two-time World Champion Bagpiper with the tones of drums and guitars from around the world to create music that has gained them international recognition.

The Tartan Terrors have been seen at festivals such at the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio and the Newport Irish Festival in Rhode Island, the Highland Games and theatres across North America, as well as dancing and playing for former President Bill Clinton and Queen Elizabeth II. The group has also appeared on television and was spotlighted on “Good Morning America.”

Siblings Ellen and Ian Wilkes Irmisch have been co-directing The Tartan Terrors since 1996. They have appeared in various radio and television commercials, as well as the movie “The Santa Clause.”

Ellen has performed with many Celtic artists, including, Bonnie Rideout, Al Pettaway, John Doyle and Matt Bell. Ian has appeared in a number of film and television productions, including “Death to Smoochy,” “Superstar” and “Road to Avonlea.”

Other members of the group include Daniel Pentecost, Jake Saenz, Phil Hood, Chris Kerba, Jarred Albright, Charlie McKitterick and Peter McArthur.

Witness the phenomenon of The Tartan Terrors and see why Celtic Beat Magazine has hailed them as “the heirs apparent to Celtic mayhem.”
