5k Raccoon Run & One-Mile Fun Run

Walkers, joggers and runners of all ages will take to the streets of Lakeside on Sunday, July 30 for the 37th Annual 5k Raccoon Run and One-Mile Fun Run.

The One-Mile Fun Run begins at 8 a.m., followed by the 5k Raccoon Run at 8:30 a.m.

The race course starts at the corner of Kenton Row/Cedar Avenue on Second Street and ends on Third Street, in front of Hoover Auditorium. Some street intersections will be barricaded during both events.

An Awards Ceremony will be held immediately following the race at 11 a.m. on the Pavilion East Deck.


Early registration prior to Friday, July 14 is $18 per individual (with a T-shirt) and $8 per individual (without a T-shirt). Registration before Wednesday, July 26 is $20 per individual (with a T-shirt) and $10 per individual (without a T-shirt). Registration after July 26 will be considered 'day of race' registration and will be $30. Registration for the One-Mile Fun Run (with a T-shirt only) is $10. Please note that T-shirts are not guaranteed after July 15 due to pre-ordering. If available, they may be purchased for $10.

This year, there are three ways to register.

  • Register online through Ohio Race Day. Please note that online registration will be assessed an additional processing fee based on the total.
  • Download and return the 2017 Raccoon Run Registration with payment.
  • Register on the day of the event starting at 7:30 a.m. Please note 'day of race' registration fees above.

Purchasing a Daily, Saturday or Season Chautauqua Pass includes admission into Lakeside Chautauqua and all shows in Hoover Auditorium, plus additional benefits. A separate "ticket" is not necessary to attend a Hoover show. As always, children age 12 and under and guests over age 90 are always free. Parking is an additional charge. Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes may be purchased online at or upon entering the gates of Lakeside. Please allow two weeks for online processing. There are no reserved seats for Hoover shows; seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. Present your Chautauqua Pass upon entering Hoover Auditorium.
