Hoover Auditorium  (map)

As part of Lakeside’s additional programming in May, Ambrosia will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30 in Hoover Auditorium.

Founded in 1970, the group explores classical and world influences, but remains rooted in blues and R&B, to create a sound defined as “Ambrosia.” Their hit songs include “How Much I Feel,” “Biggest Part Of Me” and “You’re The Only Woman.”

The band was originally labeled as America's answer to the progressive invasion of English bands, such as Yes and King Crimson. Ambrosia quickly proved it was all that and more with albums covering a variety of musical styles.

In addition to their unique sound, the group began collaborating with cultural icons of the decade, including Leonard Bernstein, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. and Alan Parsons.

Throughout their musical career, Ambrosia earned five Grammy nominations, five hit singles and several sold-out concerts around the world.

The group has performed on numerous television shows, including “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”

Today, Ambrosia is comprised of three of its four original members, Joe Puerta (vocals, bass and guitar), Burleigh Drummond (vocals, percussion and bassoon) and Christopher North (keyboards and backing vocals).

The group later added musicians Doug Jackson (guitar and backing vocals), Ken Stacey (vocals, percussion and guitar) and Mary Harris (keyboards and backing vocals).
