BlackWire “A Night of Rock & Romance”

Date

Aug 16, 2017
08:15pm – 10:30pm

Location
Hoover Auditorium (map)

Linda Davis and her group BlackWire will return to the Hoover Auditorium stage for “A Night of Rock & Romance” to prove that classical musicians can, and do, rock.

With tunes ranging from the “Game of Thrones” theme song and Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” to Coldplay’s “Paradise,” BlackWire’s music will keep the audience’s feet tapping and hands clapping.

For this one-of-a-kind concert, Davis, a member of the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra (LSO) will be joined onstage by fellow LSO members, including Cecelia Johnson and Dana Mader on violin, Sally Ross on cello, Aaron Keaster on bass and Linda Allen on piano. Logan Todd of Nashville joins the group on drums.

Also onstage will be Sandy Merrill, whose vocal repertoire ranges from the jazz of Mel Torme to the big band swing of Frank Sinatra. Merrill will croon his way into the audience’s hearts with songs such as Doris Day’s “Sentimental Journey,” Michael Buble’s “Moondance” and Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”

The band invites the audience to bring cell phones in place of lighters (with the ringer turned off, of course) and to be prepared to channel your inner “Free Bird.”
