Lakeside Symphony Orchestra Concert "Beethoven's Wig"

Date

Aug 2, 2017
08:15pm – 10:30pm

Location
Hoover Auditorium

Established in 1963, the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra is one of Lakeside’s most cherished traditions. Bringing classical music to the Chautauqua community, the orchestra performs seven concerts during its month-long residency.

For their second concert of the summer, the LSO will play a family-friendly concert featuring the “greatest hits” of classical music with a twist led by the uniquely talented Richard Perlmutter.

Beethoven’s Wig is one of the most honored musical groups in family entertainment. Perlmutter’s witty lyrics set to well-known works of classical music have earned Beethoven’s Wig four Grammy nominations, five Parent’s Choice Awards and 50 national awards.

Perlmutter has performed as a soloist and with orchestras throughout the U.S. and Canada. He has also produced albums for Grammy Award-winner Nickel Creek, Victoria Jackson from “Saturday Night Live” and an album by various artists including Grammy Lifetime Achievement Winners Tom Paxton and Ella Jenkins.

Vocalists C. Andrew Blosser, tenor, and Kimberly Monzon, soprano, will accompany Perlmutter on memorable pieces, including “Can You Can Can” (set to the music of “Can Can” from Orpheus in the Underworld by Jacques Offenbach) and “Please Don’t Play Your Violin at Night” (set to the music of “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart).

Blosser has performed roles in opera and musical theatre and presented master classes and recitals throughout the U.S. and Europe. He received his Bachelor of Music in vocal music education from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University and a Master of Music in voice performance and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from The Ohio State University. He has been a featured soloist with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Lakeside Symphony Orchestra, Tuscarawas Philharmonic, South Eastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra and the Lancaster Festival Orchestra for concert and oratorio performances.

Monzon is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts Voice with a specialization in singing health at The Ohio State University. She earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Master of Music in voice performance from the University of Houston. Some of her recent roles include Magda in La rondine, Tytania in  A Midsummer Night´s Dream, Johanna in Sweeney Todd, soprano in Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, Frasquita in Carmen, and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor.
