Lakeside Field Day

Aug 6, 2017
01:30pm – 02:30pm

Hotel Lakeside Lawn, near Gundlach Garden

Lakesiders will celebrate an old tradition by participating in the 5th Annual Lakeside Field Day. The event will take place from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 on the Hotel Lakeside lawn, near the Gundlach Garden.

Lakeside Field Day is a revived tradition. In 1892, William Gamble, son of James Gamble, the founder of Proctor & Gamble, and his wife, Francisca, set up races and other athletic events, drawing spectators and participants to the lawn of the Hotel Lakeside.

The following activities will take place:

  • 1:30 p.m. Sack Race
  • 1:45 p.m. Ring Toss
  • 2 p.m. Three-Legged Race
  • 2:15 p.m. Water Balloon Toss

After all activities have concluded there will be a Hula Hoop Contest. Kids can make their own hula hoop at the Rhein Center tent or use one available.

Field Day prizes include miniature golf passes, Coffee & Cream ice cream passes or Orchestra Hall movie passes.

Registration is free. Sign up from 12-1 p.m. near the Gundlach Garden or complete and return the 2017 Lakeside Field Day Registration.
