Jerry Lucas Luncheon

Jerry Lucas will share the story of his exciting athletic journey from high school championship basketball player to NBA All-Star at the Jerry Lucas Luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 28 in the Hotel Lakeside Fern Room.

Lucas saw basketball success as a national championship high school basketball player in Middletown, Ohio. He went on to The Ohio State University to lead the Buckeyes to the 1960 College National Championship and three straight NCAA Finals. He remains today the only three-time Big Ten Player of the Year and was also twice-named NCAA Player of the Year.

In 1960, he played on the gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic team. As a professional basketball player, Lucas was named All-NBA First Team three times, NBA All-Star seven times, 1964 NBA Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the 1965 NBA All-Star Game, among other honors and awards.

Purchasing a Daily, Saturday or Season Chautauqua Pass includes admission into Lakeside Chautauqua and all shows in Hoover Auditorium, plus additional benefits. A separate "ticket" is not necessary to attend a Hoover show. As always, children age 12 and under and guests over age 90 are always free. Parking is an additional charge. Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes may be purchased online at or upon entering the gates of Lakeside. Please allow two weeks for online processing. There are no reserved seats for Hoover shows; seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. Present your Chautauqua Pass upon entering Hoover Auditorium.
