Family Discovery Program: Monarch Madness

Stop by the Rhein Center to learn about butterfly gardens and take part in activities to promote the habitats of the endangered monarch butterfly.

Activities for all ages include making a plantable butterfly that will grow flowers and attract butterflies, painting a “resting rock” to attract butterflies to muddy spots, finger (and toe) painting a butterfly picture, making a butterfly treat and helping to plant Lakeside’s Butterfly Garden. 

This program is coordinated by the Lakeside in Bloom Gardening Program, Rhein Center and the Lakeside Chautauqua Education Department.

Purchasing a Daily, Saturday or Season Chautauqua Pass includes admission into Lakeside Chautauqua and all shows in Hoover Auditorium, plus additional benefits. A separate "ticket" is not necessary to attend a Hoover show. As always, children age 12 and under and guests over age 90 are always free. Parking is an additional charge. Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes may be purchased online at or upon entering the gates of Lakeside. Please allow two weeks for online processing. There are no reserved seats for Hoover shows; seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. Present your Chautauqua Pass upon entering Hoover Auditorium.
