Lakeside Chautauqua is a nonprofit organization that engages individuals in a year-round Chautauqua experience dedicated to nurturing mind, body and spirit. Located halfway between Cleveland and Toledo, it is an historic Chautauqua community that offers spiritual opportunities, educational lectures, cultural arts programming and recreational pursuits for guests of all ages.
With daily concerts, special events, educational seminars, recreational opportunities, cottages, hotels, shops, restaurants and an historic movie theater, Lakeside Chautauqua remains a summer retreat for generations of families.
Our mission is “to enrich the quality of life for all people, to foster traditional Christian values and nurture relationships through opportunities for renewal and growth...spiritually, intellectually, culturally and physically...while preserving Lakeside's heritage.”
During its rich history, Lakeside Chautauqua has been the summer home to countless young people who later blossomed into leaders in their chosen fields. This invaluable experience is a proven road to success, and the Lakeside Leadership Academy (LLA) was created to preserve and engage cross generational support and leadership in the community. By joining the LLA, interns provide leadership among seasonal employees and gain a valuable hands-on learning experience throughout the summer.
The Lakeside Leadership Academy internship program offers opportunities to build a solid skill base in order to launch any successful career. During the summer, earn income while having fun in the sun, meeting worldwide travelers, and developing new friendships and networking connections. This unique experience is unparalleled with excitement, variety, challenge and long-lasting growth. On your days off, visit nearby Cedar Point, Put-in-Bay, Kelleys Island, the Marblehead Lighthouse and other local attractions.
Lakeside Chautauqua offers a competitive internship compensation package, which includes a $2,000 seasonal stipend, shared apartment housing (rent, water, electric, cable/Internet included), Season Chautauqua Pass and Auto Pass to attend summer programming at Lakeside, as well as career networking opportunities.
The ideal candidate is enrolled in a college/university with having completed at least one year of an undergraduate degree. Graduate students and recent college graduates are also accepted. Interns are required to work days, evenings, weekends and all summer holidays from May 15 to at least August 19. Work schedules are determined by supervisors; most positions require a 12-hour work day.
