Lakeside will close the 137th Chautauqua summer season at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 5 in Pavilion Circle. The Closing Ceremony and fireworks will celebrate the end of another successful season.
Chip Richter, director of God Squad, will perform Lakeside favorites and Wendy Eller, vice president of Operations, will conclude the ceremony with inspirational music during the candle lighting. The program will reflect on the great memories of the Chautauqua season and celebrate the many wonderful things that have occurred this summer.
There will be several opportunity drawings at the Closing Ceremony. The Friends of Hotel Lakeside are selling tickets for two opportunity drawings: an original watercolor painting of the Hotel Lakeside and a quilt. The painting, valued at $400, is by Lakesider Robert Bruce. The quilt was created by Nancy Bouldin, Sandy Erwin and Ellie West. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six, and are available for purchase at Hotel Lakeside, where the painting and quilt are on display.
The Lakeside Wooden Boat Society will have an opportunity drawing for an original Rick Dziak oil painting, “Morning Rush Hour,” which is valued at $4,000. The painting is on display at Artists-N-Cahoots. Tickets are available for purchase there and are $5 each or five tickets for $20. Ticket holders need not be present to win for any of the drawings.
The evening will conclude with a fireworks display. In the case of inclement weather, the fireworks will be rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9 during the Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival.
Although the Chautauqua summer season is coming to an end, Lakeside remains a year-round destination.
