Composed of more than 40 musicians, the 338th Army Band provides music for military and public occasions throughout Ohio, Michigan and beyond.  The band covers most genres of music enabling them to provide music of celebration and solemnity for many occasions. Pieces they have performed include “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” Carmen Dragon's “America the Beautiful,” James Swearingen's “In All Its Glory” and the premiere of Charles Booker's “Declaration.”  Its public performances are designed to entertain and educate patriots of all ages. 

Members' ages range from 18-58.  They come from different walks of life and varying careers, including: teacher, school principal, truck driver, college student and dog trainer.

The 338th Army Band was originally formed in 1943 at Camp Siebert in Alabama as part of a support group for General Patton's 3rd Army in Europe. The band was deactivated before overseas deployment in 1945. The 338th was reactivated in 1952 as part of the Second United States Army. Today, the 338th Army Band is stationed at the 83rd Infantry Division Memorial U.S. Army Reserve Center, Whitehall, Ohio, (a suburb of Columbus) and in Livonia, Mich.
