To help with congested parking and continue our high safety standards on the grounds, Lakeside Chautauqua has introduced a tiered parking fee structure this summer.
The Lakeside Board of Directors approved this tiered parking fee structure as part of the Strategic Plan’s third goal: To assure Lakeside is a safe, healthy and aesthetically-pleasing community.
The main objective behind the tiered parking fee structure is to encourage guests to park in the South Gate Parking Lot and the Danbury School Parking Lot at discounted rates, taking advantage of the complimentary golf cart shuttle service offered once inside the Lakeside gates.
A Daily Auto Pass is required during the Chautauqua summer season (June 20-Sept. 7, 2015).
A Daily Auto Pass under the new tiered parking fee structure is $10 to park inside the gates, $5 to park at the South Gate Parking Lot and $1 to park at the Danbury School Parking Lot (during select dates). All parking is based on availability.
A Season Auto Pass is $165 (purchased after June 1). Purchasing a Season Auto Pass grants access to park inside the gates. Limited, free parking (valid for three hours) is still available at the Fifth Street Gate.
For several years, Lakeside has been renting the Danbury School Parking Lot for the summer. This year, a nominal fee will be charged to guests as part of the new tiered parking fee structure.
At Danbury School, guests are encouraged to park in the east parking lot near the gas station or the west parking lot near the football field this summer. The west lot entrance, west of the football field and along the tree line, will be open this summer. The middle entrance, between the football stadium and the school, will be closed due to renovations. The last day for parking at the Danbury School lot is Sunday, Aug. 30.
Even with the new tiered parking fees, guests can expect the purchasing process for Auto Passes to be nearly the same. Auto Passes can be purchased at the Welcome Center, Fifth Street Gate and South Gate entrances.
Gate ambassadors will ask guests to select the tiered parking fee option and then provide them with an Auto Pass for their windshield. Guests will be required to place the Auto Pass in the lower left corner of their windshield. The Safety Services Department will be reviewing Auto Passes in vehicle windshields as part of their daily routine.
To drop off, unload or load vehicles, a complimentary, short-term, 30-Minute Drop-Off Pass may be obtained. Guests will then be asked to return to their vehicle to the designated parking lot after they are finished.
The closest complimentary shuttle stop near the South Gate Parking Lot and Danbury School Parking Lot is located at the Welcome Center.
During the summer, the complimentary golf cart shuttles operate from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. daily. The shuttles run a route from the Welcome Center (near the South Gate Parking Lot), to the Shuffleboard Courts, Hotel Lakeside, Fountain Inn, Hoover Auditorium and back to the Welcome Center. The shuttle service also stops at Chautauqua Park, the Fifth Street Gate and East Second Street Gate upon request.
All shuttle stops are marked with a sign and also noted on the Lakeside Campus Map kiosks and brochures located across campus.
There is no need to call for a shuttle, simply go to one of the stops and catch a shuttle as it makes its rounds. All Lakeside shuttles are marked with an orange flag.
Guests are encouraged to review the new tiered parking fee structure and shuttle service information on the Lakeside Chautauqua website before their visit at www.lakesideohio.com/visit.
