Although it has only been two short years since Melissa Kunz completed her summer internship with the Lakeside Leadership Academy, she is thrilled to be back at Lakeside Chautauqua as the new Content Manager.
Originally from Canfield, Ohio, Kunz earned a B.A. in Communication from the University of Mount Union.
“I’m so excited to be back working for Lakeside,” said Kunz. “I am really looking forward to enhancing the Lakeside experience for new and returning guests through various marketing efforts.”
As the new Content Manager, Kunz is responsible for managing content and projects related to marketing, fundraising and the website, ensuring they are consistent with the mission and strategic goals of the organization. The Content Manager also designs promotions, assists with traditional and digital marketing efforts and creates social media content.
Kunz happened to be on Facebook when Lakeside Chautauqua posted about job openings related to her field of study. After such a positive experience with her internship, she jumped at the opportunity to be at Lakeside again.
“I spent my first summer at Lakeside in 2012, when I worked as one of the co-editors of the Lakesider newspaper as part of the Lakeside Leadership Academy internship program,” Kunz explained. “Since that summer, I fell in love with Lakeside. The atmosphere is so welcoming.”
After her summer at Lakeside, Kunz took a Social Media Assistant position at an advertising agency in Columbus, Ohio where she worked with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube and HootSuite uploading, monitoring and promoting 22 different clients through social media.
As Lakeside Chautauqua’s new Content Manager, Kunz plans to build upon the social media skills and knowledge she gained from her previous position, in addition to her writing and design skills.
“The social media world is constantly changing, so I’m hoping I can bring a new way of reaching Lakesiders and keep the Lakeside summer season spirit going all year long,” she said.
In addition to building upon her social media knowledge, Kunz said she is looking forward to working on projects such as the Lakeside Chautauqua website, e-newsletter and launching a blog.
Truly a special place for Kunz, she is looking forward to sharing her experience with family, friends, co-workers and all Lakesiders for many years to come.
