Thanks to your generosity on #GivingTuesday, preparation for Lakeside’s teen programming curriculum and youth activity center are being planned now and are set to launch in June.
Our Programming staff, under the direction of Senior V.P. of Programming Shirley Stary, has been outlining an enhanced teen program for the season. The team has also been writing and posting job descriptions for co-coordinators to help lead the program.
Teen activities will focus on the four pillars of Chautauqua: religion, education, cultural arts and recreation. For example, teen classes will be offered at the Rhein Center and late night movies will be available at Orchestra Hall.
We’ll continue to plan recreational challenges for teens, including popular theme weeks like the Olympics and Survivor.
Weekly devotional gatherings and service projects will be offered for teens to get involved in the community, and interactive, educational programs are also being planned for the summer.
The new youth activity center will be located in the Lower Pavilion. The space has been assessed and measurements have been taken for work.
Dave Geyer, V.P. of Municipal Services, has provided input on the space, with work beginning in February. The Programming staff formulated and finalized equipment, technology and furniture needs for the space, which will be ordered in February and March.
You can still support this special initiative with a financial gift. Give online today.
