Society of Old Salts (SOS)
Society of Old Salts (SOS) was founded in 1991 by 26 family members. Today, the organization has approximately 300 members. The mission of SOS is to provide the resources for a safe, enjoyable and comfortable sailing club with a commitment toward continuous improvement. SOS members contribute the finances and countless volunteer hours to fulfill its mission.
The SOS Leadership team comprised of Brian Brucken (President), Megan Meyer (Marketing) and Bobby Sudomir (Treasurer) is committed to executing SOS’s mission and for continuing to look for ways to improve the Lakeside Sailing Center experience. We are proud to serve our members and provide strategic direction for the Lakeside Sailing Center to ensure it’s foundation for generations to come. We welcome new members and thank current members for their ongoing support of one of the most active small boat sailing centers in the country.

Current President Brian Brucken has been active in the Lakeside Sailing Center since its inception in 1978. Brucken completed both the Basic I and Basic II sailing classes in 1982 and was a sailing instructor from 1991-1993 and taught the Basic 2 sailing class. Since 1980, he has been a regular participant in the annual Lakeside Sailing Regatta winning Junior Sunfish (85’,86’), Senior Sunfish (93’), Sunfish Double-Handed (86’,06’) and Lasers (97’,04’,05’,06’,09’ 10').
