5K Raccoon Run & One-Mile Fun Run

Walkers, joggers, and runners of all ages will take to the streets of Lakeside on Sunday, July 23 for the 43rd Annual 5K Raccoon Run and One-Mile Fun Run. Light refreshments for all racers will be provided at the finish line, and awards will be given immediately following the race on the steps of Hoover Auditorium.

Registration includes chip timing and a chance at age group finisher awards for the 5K, as well as a commemorative T-shirt and decal for both 5K and One-Mile Fun Run.

5k course stretches around the perimeter of Lakeside with turns are clearly marked.

• Start: Orchestra Hall, corner of Second Street & Walnut Avenue
• Finish: Third Street at Hoover Auditorium

The One-Mile Fun Run course is along Second and Third Streets on flat terrain.

• Start: Lakeside Laundromat, corner of Second Street & Sycamore Avenue

The Bob Brucken Honorary Award
The Bob Brucken Honorary Award will be given to the oldest participant finishing the 5K Raccoon Run. The award, named after longtime Lakesider Bob Brucken, is in recognition of his leadership in promoting the annual 5K in Lakeside. Brucken has run the race since its inception, earning medals several times. In fact, some years, he finished the race pushing a neighbor in a wheelchair. Brucken can be seen jogging the streets of Lakeside and the nature trail all summer, oftentimes with members of his family trailing alongside. His love of running, the Raccoon Run and Lakeside is contagious. Lakeside Chautauqua is privileged to honor Bob Brucken with this new Raccoon Run tradition during our 150th Anniversary.

• 5K registration: $35 (includes T-shirt & commemorative decal)
• One-Mile Fun Run: $15 (includes T-shirt & commemorative decal)
• Group Registration: $25 for athletic teams (includes T-shirt & commemorative decal). Email recreation@lakesideohio.com for more information.

• One-Mile Fun Run: Check in early to skip the line! Pick up your T-shirt and decal on Walnut Plaza from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, July 22.
• Day Of Race: Check in between 7-7:30 a.m. in Hoover Auditorium Lobby, 115 W Third St., Lakeside, OH 43440.

Admission & Parking Fees

Admission and parking fees to Lakeside Chautauqua are not included in the race day registration. A complimentary Recreation Event Pass is available from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. on the day of the event for registrants only. This pass does not allow access to the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus Pool or Hoover Auditorium. Purchase full-day admission and parking to Lakeside to enjoy all Lakeside has to offer.
