Hoover Silent Movie Night with Organist Clark Wilson: “Seven Chances” (1925)

 Monday, June 25, 2018
8:15pm-9:45pm
Hoover Auditorium

For this week’s Hoover Silent Movie Night, Clark Wilson, a silent film organist, will accompany the movie “Seven Chances.”

Wilson, one of the most recognized scorers of silent photoplays in America, works exclusively with the organ in developing accurate and historic musical accompaniments as they were performed in major pictures during the heyday of silent film.

He began his scoring career in 1980 and has successfully toured North America with hundreds of film presentations at universities, performing arts centers, theaters, film festivals and conventions.

Wilson’s work has led to performances for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Society.

On Monday, June 25, Lakeside will feature the silent movie "Seven Chances,” starring Buster Keaton, Ruth Dwyer and T. Roy Barnes.

Struggling stockbroker James Shannon (Buster Keaton) learns that he will inherit a fortune from his grandfather if he marries by 7 p.m. that same day.

After being turned down by Mary Jones (Ruth Dwyer), the woman he’s been pining over for years, he has only hours to find a woman who will marry him.

When his friends try to help by placing an ad in the newspaper, James finds himself chased through the streets by hundreds of marriage-minded women (56 mins).
