Family Night in the Park: Blue Lunch

 Sunday, July 1, 2018
6:00pm-7:00pm
Steele Memorial Bandstand/Gazebo

The late 1940s and early 1950s were a pivotal time in American musical history, when blues, rhythm & blues, swing and rock & roll were all still one genre, not yet identified as what they are today.

Blue Lunch explores that music and makes it all their own. Eight virtuoso musicians from Cleveland perform on guitar, piano, upright bass, drums, harp, saxophone, trumpet and trombone. In addition to their instrumental talent, Blue Lunch also boasts five vocalists and includes doo-wop style and gospel harmonies into their repertoire.

Blue Lunch features Pete London (harmonica and vocals), Bob Frank (guitar and vocals), Mike Rubin (trumpet), Chris Burge (saxophone), Scott Flowers (drums), Ray DeForest (bass), Mike Sands (keyboard) and Bob Michael (trombone).

Founded in 1984, the band has released nine albums, including their most recent, Big Sound Blues. This year will mark the 34th anniversary of the band.
