Tim Hawkins has been establishing himself as one of the most in-demand comedians in the country and will demonstrate his talents at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, July 21 in Hoover Auditorium.

Hawkins began his career as a stand-up comedian after quitting his job as a grocery truck driver in 2002. Now, he performs 120 shows in 30 states each year. With more that 300 million views online and sold-out shows, his “Jackwagon Crew” of fans has grown into a revolution of multi-generational proportions.

Hawkins’ comedy show entertains the entire family while doubling down on the funny, a daunting task in an age where the obscene has become routine. His obscure approach to the comedic stage sets him apart from others.

He combines hilarious, family-friendly skits with subtle music in every show, including his notorious wretched cow impressions. Each of his pieces is well-timed and honed into perfection, all while making a deeper connection with the audience.

His act is one-part gifted and two-parts twisted, the only certainty being his on-the-nose observations that expose the ridiculousness of daily life while marveling in its hilarity. The perils of marriage, homeschooling and growing up in the Midwest may not exemplify the rock star life, but they make for really good punchlines.

He develops new material daily, simply by absorbing the world around him. Hawkins pokes fun at everyday life and spoofs hit songs, which takes him only minutes to complete.

“I used to write what I thought was funny,” said Hawkins. “Now all I do is live my life and make notes.”

While his stand-up is captivating, fans are often more amazed at his singing voice and guitar skills. A self-taught guitarist, Hawkins plays a variety of songs, note-for-note, from Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bon Jovi to Prince, as part of every show.

During his musical parodies, he weaves in flawless vocal imitations from artists such as Bono, Jason Aldean and John Mayer.

Hawkins’ hilarious music videos have brought him viral YouTube fame with fan favorites, including “The Chick-Fil-A Song,” “Yoga Pants,” “Cletus Take the Reel” and “The Government Can.”

Above all, Hawkins reminds us that for life’s many trials, laughter is our best medicine.
