The Australian rock group, Little River Band, returns to Lakeside with their signature sound at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, June 23 in Hoover Auditorium.

The rock group will perform some of their greatest hits, including “Lonesome Loser,” “Cool Change” and “Lady,” among other songs that showcase their vocal and instrumental talents.

Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 1975, Little River Band grew to become one of the greatest vocal bands of the 1970s and 80s.

Having little success performing with other rock bands, the members of Little River Band joined together to create a new, original blend of music. The group not only wanted to conquer the Australian music scene, but also American radio, and they did with a mix of creative songwriting, guitar harmonies and powerful vocals.

Worldwide, their album sales have topped 30 million copies sold. Little River Band was the first band to have Top 10 hits for six consecutive years. Some of their hits include, “It’s a Long Way There,” “Help is on Its Way,” “Take It Easy on Me,” “Man on Your Mind” and “Reminiscing.”

According to Broadcast Music Inc., “Reminiscing” has garnered rare status with more than five million airplays on American radio. John Lennon named it as one of his favorite songs. Little River Band’s song “Lady” is a close second with more than four million radio airplays.

In 2004, Little River Band was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards.

The current members – Wayne Nelson (bass and lead vocals), Rich Herring (lead guitar), Chris Marion (keys), Greg Hind (rhythm) and Ryan Hicks (drums) – stay true to the band’s original musical style. Little River Ban continues to tour with exciting new arrangements to their old classics in a show that's sure to make new memories for every Lakesider.
