Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone will perform some of their popular hits from the 1960s at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 in Hoover Auditorium, including “I’m into Something Good,” “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter,” “There’s a Kind of Hush” and “I’m Henry VIII, I Am.”

Noone, a multi-talented entertainer from Manchester, England, has been delighting sold-out audiences nearly all his life.

At 15, he achieved international fame as the lead singer of the legendary English pop band, Herman's Hermits. The band sold more than 60 million recordings, with 14 singles and seven albums that went gold.

Rivaling The Beatles, the band was the top-selling pop act in 1965. That same year, they were nominated for two Grammy Awards for their song “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter.”

Noone left the band in 1971 to begin a solo career in singing, as well as acting.

Over the years, he has composed and produced songs; performed lead roles in theatrical productions, such as Pirates of Penzance and Aladdin; starred on Broadway; and has guest-starred on TV shows, such as “Married with Children,” “Quantum Leap,” “My Two Dads” and “Laverne & Shirley.” He has also voiced Adrian of the band Tiny Cowboy in Disney Channel’s show “Phineas & Ferb.”

Noone spent four years hosting VH1’s “My Generation.” He also hosted a PBS special called “The British Invasion Returns” and currently has a weekly radio show on Sirius XM Satellite Station, “60’s on 6.” In fact, the New York Daily News dubbed him the "King of the Sixties on the Internet."

Noone has graced the cover of nearly every international publication, including Time magazine. He has performed on hundreds of television shows and appeared with Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason, Dean Martin and Danny Kaye. In 2007, Noone appeared on “American Idol,” as a mentor for the male contestants.

He returned to tour with Herman’s Hermits in the early 2000s. Noone has a loyal fan base known as the ‘Noonatics.’ Accompanied by his band, he continues to play at sold-out venues all over the world. Noone is a consummate showman who continues to entertain audiences of all ages. This is his fourth appearance in Hoover Auditorium since 2000.
