Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone will perform some of their popular hits from the 1960s at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 in Hoover Auditorium, including “I’m into Something Good,” “Mrs. Brown You’ve got a Lovely Daughter,” “There’s a Kind of Hush” and “I’m Henry VIII, I Am.”

At only 15, the multi-talented entertainer from Manchester, England achieved international fame as the lead singer of the legendary English pop band.

Herman’s Hermits sold more than 60 million recordings, with 14 singles and seven albums that went gold.

Rivaling The Beatles, the band was the top-selling pop act in 1965. That same year, they were nominated for two Grammy Awards for their song “Mrs. Brown, You’ve got a Lovely Daughter.”

Noone left the band in 1971 to begin a solo career in singing, as well as acting.

Over the years, he has composed and produced songs; performed lead roles in theatrical productions, such as Aladdin; starred on Broadway; and has guest-starred on TV shows, such as “All My Children,” “Quantum Leap,” “My Two Dads” and “Laverne & Shirley.”

Noone spent four years hosting VH1’s “My Generation.” He also hosted a PBS special called “The British Invasion Returns,” and has a weekly radio show on Sirius XM Satellite Station, “60’s on 6.”

He has voiced Adrian of the band Tiny Cowboy in Disney Channel’s show “Phineas & Ferb.”

Noone has graced the cover of nearly every international publication, including Time Magazine. He has performed on hundreds of top-rated television programs and appeared with Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason, Dean Martin and Danny Kaye. In 2007, Noone appeared on “American Idol,” as a mentor for the male contestants.

He returned to tour with Herman’s Hermits in the early 2000s. Noone has a loyal fan base known as the ‘Noonatics.’ Accompanied by his band, he continues to play at sold-out venues all over the world.
