Hailing from Minneapolis, Mama Caught Fire is an all-female trio whose music explores intricate harmony, emotional storytelling and the power of the voice.

Band members Abigail Tuominen (guitar and vocals), Molly Sowash (guitar and vocals) and Julia Hobart (ukulele, piano and vocals) met as students at Macalester College in 2013, where they discovered their shared love of folk music and began singing and writing in three-part harmony. All three write for the group, which performs around the Twin Cities.

They recently released their first full-length album, titled Listen as She Speaks, which reflects on the mother-daughter relationship, losing loved ones and healing through song.

Joining the trio are Bradley Sowash (bass) and Bryn Sowash (percussion), the father and sister of Molly Sowash.

Bradley is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and educator known for his innovative online group jazz piano classes, acclaimed keyboard improvisation books and as the co-founder of 88 Creative Keys workshops and webinars for music teachers.

Bryn is a musician, educator and consultant working with arts organizations around the world. A pianist for theater productions and auditions, she also plays Irish guitar, percussion and has recently taken up the concertina.
