Harptoons: Draw, Create & Imagine

 Saturday, May 26, 2018
2:00pm-3:00pm
Chautauqua Hall

This engaging intergenerational program features artist Steve Harpster showing children of all ages how to draw and create stories through hands-on activities.

Harpster has been a professional illustrator and author for more than 20 years. During that time, his work has been published in more than 100 books and has also been featured on products like T-shirts, stickers and toys.

He now travels the country sharing his love of drawing with children who are excited about creating their own books and characters. Through his company, Harptoons, he is influencing a new generation of artists, cartoonists and writers. With his YouTube channel, instructional books and educational visits, Harpster reaches young artists all over the country.

Although they are geared towards children, his drawing lessons are enjoyed by all ages. He enjoys spreading the message that the only way to get better at anything you do in life is through “practice, practice and more practice.”

Harpster currently lives in Cincinnati with his wife and two sons. He first discovered his talent for drawing in first grade when he illustrated a drawing of Godzilla. From there, he found himself on a dedicated path to becoming an illustrator and cartoon artist.

Some of his personal favorite cartoons are SpongeBob SquarePants, Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse.

Harpster’s books will be for sale at the program.
