Lakeside Symphony Orchestra Meet the Conductor Forum - John Gordon Ross

 Thursday, August 2, 2018
3:30pm-4:30pm
Chautauqua Hall

Join fellow Lakesiders for an informal conversation with each of the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra’s guest conductors this season.

All of these talented musicians are being considered for the Music Director & Conductor position beginning with the 2019 season.

Lakeside staff and key orchestra members will be gathering feedback on all the candidates throughout the symphony season, both at these forums and following each concert, to assist in the evaluation process.

On Thursday, Aug. 2, the Lakeside community will have the opportunity to meet John Gordon Ross, who is serving as Interim Music Director of the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra this season. He has been 2nd Trombonist for the orchestra since 1978 and is grateful to Lakeside as the place where he met his wife of 37 years, Sarah Rocco Ross, who has also performed with the orchestra for more than 40 years.

He recently retired from serving as conductor of the Western Piedmont Symphony in Hickory, N.C. since 1991. Ross is a faculty member at Lenoir-Rhyne University where he teaches music history and instrumental conducting.
