Lakeside Symphony Orchestra Meet the Conductor Forum - Daniel Meyer

 Sunday, August 5, 2018
3:30pm-4:30pm
Chautauqua Hall

Join fellow Lakesiders for an informal conversation with each of the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra’s guest conductors this season.

All of these talented musicians are being considered for the Music Director & Conductor position beginning with the 2019 season.

Lakeside staff and key orchestra members will be gathering feedback on all the candidates throughout the symphony season, both at these forums and following each concert, to assist in the evaluation process.

On Sunday, Aug. 5, the Lakeside community will have the opportunity to meet Daniel Meyer. As Music Director of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra and Erie Philharmonic, Meyer has reinvigorated orchestras with his innovative programs, engaging presence and keen musical intellect.

During this past year, he has returned to the Rochester Philharmonic, Portland Symphony and debuted with Cleveland’s Blue Water Chamber Orchestra.

Meyer was Resident Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony and Music Director of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony. A resident of Pittsburgh, Meyer serves as Artistic Director of the Westmoreland Symphony and Director of Orchestral Activities at Duquesne University.

He studied conducting at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar and is a graduate of Denison University and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He received an honorary doctorate last year from Endinboro University.
