The Rev. Dr. R. Mark Giuliano, Senior Pastor at Old Stone Church (First Presbyterian) in Cleveland, will serve as Lakeside’s Preacher of the Week from July 7-11. This week is supported by the Rev. Dr. Charles and Dr. Barbara Yoost.

He will preach at the Hoover Community Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 7. His sermon, "Old World, New Vision," is based on Ephesians 1:15-23.

One of Cleveland’s preeminent preachers, the Rev. Dr. Giuliano is a speaker, writer and community leader. He has been called “one of the best preachers in the Presbyterian Church (USA) today.”

His combined studies helped him emerge as a strong leader in the church and community. His early studies focused on urban planning and humanities, and he later received his Master of Sacred Theology from McGill University and his Doctor of Ministry from Vanderbilt Divinity School, focusing on theology and preaching.

He has served as an elected board member of the Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation and the Downtown Cleveland Improvement Corporation and serves on a variety of civic committees and task forces, as well as the Mission Council of the Presbytery of the Western Reserve.

In addition to his work as the writer and the host of "Power2ools: 2 Minute Tools for Life!," the Rev. Dr. Giuliano is a regular guest columnist with the The Plain Dealer and the author of dozens of articles, commentaries and the book, Speak Easy: The Survival Guide to Speech and Public Speaking.

He is an accomplished singer/songwriter, having garnered a Golden Viking for Americana Album of the Year in 2006 and received a letter of thanks from New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and a Presidential Citation from President George W. Bush for his 2001 tribute song to September 11, “Shoulder to Shoulder.” His most recent single is called, “This is the Place, This is the Time.

During his week at Lakeside, the Rev. Dr. Giuliano will preach at 9 a.m. Monday-Thursday during Faith for Living Hour in Orchestra Hall. At 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, he will lead Vespers by the Lake, held on the Pavilion East Deck.

For those who wish to attend worship, a complimentary Church Pass may be obtained between 7:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday; valid until 3 p.m. A complimentary Faith for Living Hour Pass is available between 8:30-9 a.m. Monday-Thursday; valid until 1:30 p.m. Both passes include admission to Lakeside for guests and auto, but not access to the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus.
