Lakeside’s Family Entertainment Series, held on select Wednesdays throughout the summer, is geared especially toward families and begins at 7:30 p.m. This week's presentation features your favorite Columbus Zoo & Aquarium animals handled by Suzi Rapp.

While animals are showcased one by one, learn about where they live, what they eat, their status in the wild and conservation issues. Featured animals vary depending on what animals are available the day of the program.

Rapp began her career at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium more than 30 years ago. She has worked in the Education Department, developed the Promotions Department, and now serves as the Vice President of Animal Programs.

Rapp worked to develop the Animal Encounters Village concept that brings animals up close and personal with visitors and helped open the Heart of Africa exhibit where she manages the cheetah exhibit and Watering Hole.

She’s now working with a team to develop the newest region of the zoo, Adventure Cove, which will feature an updated Animal Encounters Village, as well as seals and sea lions.

Rapp's passion for cheetah survival has helped her raise more than $350,000 for cheetah conservation. Recently, she was appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Cheetah Conservation Fund.

In addition to the Family Entertainment Series program at 7:30 p.m., Rapp will present an education lecture at 3 p.m. in Hoover Auditorium (with one cheetah) about the zoo’s Cheetah Conservation Fund. Please note: this afternoon program is an educational seminar and not an entertainment program for children; that program is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
