Silent Movies with Organist Clark Wilson: Laurel & Hardy Short Film Compilation

 Monday, July 22, 2019
8:15pm-10:00pm
Hoover Auditorium

Accompanied by silent film organist Clark Wilson, Hoover Auditorium will showcase a classic silent movie.

Wilson, one of the most recognized scorers of silent photoplays in America, works exclusively with the organ in developing accurate and historic musical accompaniments as they were performed in major pictures during the heyday of silent film.

He began his scoring career in 1980 and has successfully toured North America with hundreds of film presentations at universities, performing arts centers, theaters, film festivals and conventions.

Wilson’s work has led to performances for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Society.

Wilson will discuss silent films, scoring, movie palaces and pipe organs as a part of the Chautauqua Lecture Series at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 22 in Orchestra Hall.

Laurel & Hardy were a comedy act during the early Classical Hollywood era of American cinema. They’re known for their slapstick humor and appeared together in 35 silent films.

The Hoover Silent Movie schedule features another silent movie night on Aug. 12, titled "The Kid Brother."
