Credited with writing some of the greatest country music hits of the 2000s, Marcus Hummon has enjoyed a successful career as a songwriter, recording artist, composer, playwright and author.

As a Grammy winner and a two-time Nashville Songwriters Association International Songwriter’s Hall of Fame nominee, some of his most recognizable songwriting hits have included “Bless the Broken Road,” “Cowboy Take Me Away,” “Born to Fly” and “One of These Days,” which were recorded by country superstars Rascal Flatts, The Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans and Tim McGraw. Besides country, his songs have also been recorded in pop, R&B and gospel genres.

As a recording artist and instrumentalist Hummon has released critically-acclaimed records, and as a playwright, he has written six musicals and an opera, three of which were featured off-Broadway as part of the New York Musical Festival in 2005, 2006 and 2011. His writing has also gone towards creating children’s books and The Passion, a book he co-wrote with his wife, the Rev. Becca A. Stevens, who is also serving as Preacher of the Week for Week 8.

Currently, he is working towards completing a new film, “The Last Songwriter,” which will feature Garth Brooks.
