Join fellow Lakesiders in celebrating the closing of the 56th season of the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra (LSO).

This concert features pianist Angelin Chang performing Camille Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor. Considered one of the most popular of the composer’s concertos, this three movement work uses characteristics of Johann Sebastian Bach and the influence of French composers for a virtuoso piano
and orchestra collaboration.

The concert concludes with Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 in C minor, a beautiful work and perhaps the composer’s most noted work for its lyricism and thematic unity.

Chang, an internationally-acclaimed pianist, is the first American female and the first pianist of Asian heritage to be awarded a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Soloist with Orchestra. She’s recognized for her sense of poetry and technical brilliance.

An active chamber musician, she performs regularly with the legendary violist Joseph de Pasquale, The de Pasquale String Quartet, and with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra.

Chang earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from Peabody Institute – Johns Hopkins University; Premier Prix - Piano and Premier Prix - Musique de Chambre from the Paris Conservatoire; Master of Music and Distinguished Performer Certificate from Indiana University; Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music from Ball State University; and highest honors upon graduation from the Interlochen Arts Academy.

In addition to the evening concert, join Christine Smith Dorey of the Conservatory of Music of Baldwin Wallace University, for a Symphony Pre-Concert Talk at 7 p.m. in Chautauqua Hall. This is the last Symphony Pre-Concert Talk of the summer.
