"Sound Over All Waters" is an evening of vocal music celebrating a night of faith, inspiration and song.

Featuring jazz and pop vocalist Ellen Winters, the Chautauqua Choir Michael Shirtz, the program reflects hope and the healing spirit that Lake Erie and the summer provides to Lakesiders.

The evening includes poems/readings and tunes, such as “Deep River,” “River in Judea,” “It is Well with My Soul,” “Come to the Water” and many more.

Special guest Winters is an award-winning jazz singer, devoted to keeping her music fresh while still paying tribute to the great jazz artists of the past.

A student of trad-jazz, Winters has studied with some of the best vocal jazz educators/arrangers in the country, including Phil Mattson, Steve Zegree, Ron McCurdy, Steve Tyler and Chip McNeill.

She has sung in award-winning vocal jazz groups and has performed at the Montreux and North Seas Jazz Festivals in Europe, the Rocky Mountain Jazz Festival in Banff and the Monterey Jazz Festival Sea Cruise.

As a soloist, she has performed jazz and cabaret all over the country. Winters has been featured at venues like Danny’s Skylight Cabaret and Rose’s Turn in New York City; The Jazz Showcase and The Abbey in Chicago; and venues across Milwaukee.

She continues to be sought after as a jazz and cabaret singer throughout Milwaukee and the U.S., while working as a clinician, adjudicator and arranger.

Winters has been on staff as a voice teacher/coach at the Waukesha Conservatory of Music (Hartland Music) since 2006, teaching Private Voice to all ages. She's also on the faculty at Columbia College Chicago.
