Author Visit with Andrew Welsh-Huggins

Journalist and mystery novelist Andrew Welsh-Huggins discusses his journey as a writer and answers questions from the audience.

His mystery novels will be on sale at The Fine Print Bookstore and at the event. A book signing will immediately follow the formal program.

By day, Andrew Welsh-Huggins is an editor and reporter for the Associated Press in Columbus, focusing on criminal justice topics. By earlier in the day, he is the author of six Andy Hayes mysteries published by Swallow Press, including his most recent work, Fatal Judgment (published April 2019), featuring an ex-Ohio State and Cleveland Browns quarterback turned private eye. With Akashic Books, he is the editor of the short story anthology Columbus Noir, coming in 2020. Andrew’s short mystery fiction has appeared in Kings River Life, Down And Out Magazine, Tough and Mystery Weekly Magazine. His short story, The Murderous Type, won the 2017 Al Blanchard prize for best New England short crime fiction and appeared in Snowbound: The Best New England Crime Stories 2017. An expert on capital punishment, Andrew is also the author of two nonfiction books, No Winners Here Tonight (2009), the definitive history of Ohio’s death penalty, and Hatred at Home (2011), about one of the country's first domestic terrorism cases. Andrew grew up in the Finger Lakes region of western New York State, attended Kenyon College and Brown University, and today calls himself a proud native adopted Ohioan.
