Virtual/Zoom

Presented in response to the successful four-day Memoir Writing Workshop offered Week 2, this is a weekly virtual workshop for writers who wish to continue to meet or those who would like join the group.

The facilitator, Nike Mendenhall, will offer writing prompts and resources and encourage participants to choose and develop their own subject matter.

Classes allow for personal writing time, sharing in large and small groups, guidance in giving and receiving useful, positive feedback and opportunities to read aloud to an audience.

Writers of all skill levels are welcome. The featured focus of these weekly workshops is writing in community, ideally over a period of several weeks.

While some writing technique is taught in each class, emphasis is placed on the writer pursuing their own forms of written expression (e.g., poetry, memoir, fiction, non-fiction or journaling). Classes last two hours (with a break) and will allow writers to share their work and obtain the type of feedback they desire.

This is a non-traditional, interactive, hands-on writing workshop that is presented via Zoom. The sessions incorporate the writing circle processes and practices that were developed by Women Writing for (a) Change in Cincinnati, Ohio. These are confidential, safe, nurturing non-competitive spaces where writers can find their own, authentic voice.
