Evening Music: Wild Carrot

 Sunday, August 16, 2020
6:00pm-7:30pm
Steele Memorial Bandstand

This Cincinnati-based, award-winning group has what it takes to please all types of Americana and Roots music fans. With a foot in traditional American music, their repertoire branches from award-winning original tunes to swing, and blues to traditional songs, using guitar, mandolin, dulcimer, concertina and vocals.

Wild Carrot features Pam Temple (vocals, guitar, dulcimer and concertina) and Spencer Funk (vocals, guitar and mandolin). With the addition of Julia Higgins (vocals and base), they expand to "Wild Carrot Trio" for their performance at Lakeside.

Rooted in traditional American music, Wild Carrot’s repertoire branches in diverse directions, from original tunes and swing, to blues and traditional songs. The group uses a guitar, mandolin, dulcimer, concertina and vocals in each performance, expanding their configuration to a trio or quartet to fit each venue.

Wild Carrot's shows have often been described as "honest, soothing, uplifting and fun all at the same time," moving an audience from laughter to tears and back again in a way that makes the listener feel like they're in a conversation with old friends.

All of this adds up to a performance that's been described as "seamless," "subtle and powerful" and "a joy."

Masks required. Please practice safe social distancing. While some seating is provided in Bettinger Park, guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. In the case of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled.
