VIRTUAL: Lakeside: The Missionary’s Friend

 Sunday, August 2, 2020
1:30pm-2:30pm
Repeats

From the dedication Camp Meeting of 1873 and well into the 20th century, missionaries held a large role in historic Lakeside programming. It’s been said that the Chautauqua Movement may not have been a woman’s movement, but it certainly was a movement of women. The women who attended Lakeside summer meetings by the hundreds moved the world on issues of their day such as suffrage, temperance, holiness and service through the mission organizations they created for the Methodist Episcopal Church.

This four-part virtual program will explore who these women were and what they did here that led to what they accomplished in the world. Led by David Boling. Coordinated by the Lakeside Heritage Society.

Program will be streamed on the Lakeside Heritage Society (LHS) Facebook page at the time and date of the event.
