The Rev. Dr. R. Glen Miles

The Rev. Dr. R. Glen Miles will serve as Lakeside’s Preacher of the Week on Labor Day Sunday, Sept. 5.

He will preach at the Chautauqua Community Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 5 in Hoover Auditorium.

Dr. R. Glen Miles is the Senior Minister of First Community Church in Columbus, Ohio.

With a focus on meaningful worship and effective preaching, Dr. Miles’ dynamic, powerful style

demonstrates his philosophy that the mission of the church is to proclaim the unconditional love of God available for all people.

Prior to his time in Columbus, Dr. Miles was the Senior Minister for Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri. He was featured as one of the “100 People Who Have Changed Life in Kansas City Forever” by Kansas City Magazine.

He is past President of the Board of Directors of the Sustainable Sanctuary Coalition, an organization which helps faith communities care for creation both on a collective and individual level. He has also served on a variety of non-profit and mission-focused boards, including AMOR Ministries, an agency serving the needs of the homeless in northern Mexico.

He has published the book “Between Gloom and Glory: First Lesson Sermons for Advent/Christmas/Epiphany,” and has served as keynote speaker at numerous church and nationwide community events.

Dr. Miles holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California, a Master of Divinity degree from Emmanuel Christian Seminary in Johnson City, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Bushnell University in Eugene, Oregon.

While some seating is provided in Bettinger Park, guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.
