Orchestra Hall

Join us for a continued conversation with NFL Hall of Famer Mike Singletary and his lessons of faith through his career and life journey. Morning sessions includes a Q & A with the audience.

Mike Singletary was born in Houston, Texas, the last of ten children. After a standout career at Baylor University as a consensus All-American, he was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 1981 NFL draft. He played in 10 consecutive Pro Bowls from 1983 through 1992 and was first-team All-Pro in seven of those seasons. He was the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1985 and 1988, the former award coming after a season in which Singletary anchored what is often considered the greatest defensive unit in professional football history, the 1985 Bears. Following the end of his playing days, Singletary served as the Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2008 – 2010.

In 1998 he was awarded his sport’s highest honor when he was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

Singletary is both a motivational speaker and an ordained minister, and has co-authored several books, among them: Daddy’s Home at Last – What It Takes for Dads to Put Families First (1998), and Singletary One-on-One (2005).
