Artist Statement by Brenda Knipp

My love of color and composition might have its origins in the many years I taught and studied French--that and the fact that my grandmother painted china. At any rate, I tried my hand at various art mediums including watercolor, oil painting, and finally photography. I started coming to Lakeside in the seventies and have seen quite a transformation throughout the years. The love that Lakesiders have for this special place has manifested itself in the continuing care lavished on its parks, gardens, and cottages. I chose to memorialize these changes in several photography books. My family has vacationed through four generations--through good times and not-so-good times. But every year was an exceptional time, and this time is no exception.
