The decade of the 1960s was more than just the golden age of rock and roll. It was a time when American entertainers were overwhelmed by the British invasion; when the popular culture was being questioned by the counterculture; when protests rocked college campuses; when declarations of peace and love often led to incidents of heartbreaking violence; and when entertainers from every corner of the music industry contributed to one of the most unique periods in American history.

Presenter Timm Mackley will share insights into the music that captured the many moods of our country during the 1960s.

Part 1: In this first sessions we will examine some of the defining moments in 1960s America. and will review music that defined the early part of the decade from both the popular culture and the counterculture. Featured entertainers will include the Rat Pack, Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys, Barbara Streisand, The Smothers Brothers, Jefferson Airplane, and Bob Dylan.
