Music of the 60s - Part II

 Friday, July 2, 2021
10:30am-12:00pm
Orchestra Hall

The decade of the 1960s was more than just the golden age of rock and roll. It was a time when American entertainers were overwhelmed by the British invasion; when the popular culture was being questioned by the counterculture; when protests rocked college campuses; when declarations of peace and love often led to incidents of heartbreaking violence; and when entertainers from every corner of the music industry contributed to one of the most unique periods in American history.

Presenter Timm Mackley will share insights into the music that captured the many moods of our country during the 1960s.

Part 2: In this continuing session we will focus on the Civil Rights Movement, the War in Vietnam, the British Invasion, and Motown. Featured entertainers will include The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Doors, The Temptations, The Four Tops, and The Supremes.
