Painting the Marblehead Lighthouse in Watercolor – Ages 15+ ($10)

Join seasoned watercolor artist, Howard Krauss, as he demonstrates a variety of beginning watercolor techniques including, but not limited to, mixing colors, brush strokes, and the importance of color value. In this class, you’ll learn to apply these techniques to creating your very own painting of the Marblehead Lighthouse. Samples shown are some of Howard's work and depict the techniques he will be teaching.

Howard Kraus – Artist-Instructor

Howard is a watercolor artist with a studio at the Oxford Art Center where he also teaches classes. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, he was introduced to art at a very early age at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. It was there he discovered that art is not merely copying the scenes but interpreting them into shapes and designs. He also discovered why certain techniques are used and when to use them. Introduced to the term "starving artist" and not wanting to be one of them, Howard pursued a career in science. Now retired, Howard devotes his time between painting and teaching others the skills he has learned over the years. Most of his paintings are inspired by his travels.
