    Dan Dudley

    Dan Dudley joined the Lakeside Chautauqua Staff as the Chief Financial Officer in 2014.

    Dudley has more than 20 years of experience in finance, business planning and management. He has worked for The H.J. Heinz Company, Pet Life Inc., and FELDA IFFCO, Inc. Most recently, he worked at Heristo AG, Saturn Petcare Division, a $2 billion German-based food manufacturer where he served as General Manager and was responsible for starting up a U.S. production and headquarters facility.

    Dudley attended Stanford University where he received his bachelor’s degree in finance and economics in 1984. In 1989, he earned his MBA from the University of Michigan.

    He is also a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Ohio.

    Daniel Rogers

    Daniel Rogers became President and CEO of Lakeside Chautauqua, a non-profit organization, in August 2020. He also serves as President and CEO of the Lakeside Chautauqua Foundation, a supporting organization responsible for fundraising and managing the financial assets of Lakeside Chautauqua.

    Rogers is a skilled senior leader with a broad background in leading complex non-profit organizations that provide programming and assistance to poor, underprivileged and homeless populations.

    He combines his extensive business experience with a genuine love and curiosity of people and humbly describes himself as a servant leader, intent on nurturing relationships within the community while working with and developing his staff.

    Rogers most recently served as President & CEO of Cherry Street Mission Ministries of Toledo from 2005-2019, where he developed the strategic direction of the organization, fostered community partnerships and led significant fundraising efforts.

    He earned his Bachelor’s in Theology, Psychology and Behavioral Science from Mount Vernon Nazarene College.

    Dave Geyer

    Dave Geyer, Vice President of Facilities & Safety Services, has served at Lakeside Chautauqua for more than 28 years.

    Geyer manages 47 structures that support the Chautauqua program and more than nine miles of streets and sidewalks. He supervises the seasonal and full-time employees of the Maintenance, Security and Grounds Departments.

    Geyer also works closely with the Conference & Event Planning and Operations Departments to prepare for guest and group arrivals, as well as oversees various rehab and winterization projects on the grounds.

  • Jim Switzer

    Jim Switzer

    Jim Switzer joined the Lakeside Chautauqua Staff as the Senior V.P. of Municipal Services in April 2019.

    Switzer brings with him a wealth of applicable skills and experiences having worked in the telecom industry for 38 years. He recently retired from AT&T with 24 years of project management experience managing the company’s installation of sophisticated networks worldwide.

    In assuming this role, Switzer has resigned from the Lakeside Chautauqua Board of Directors, however, he will be an important liaison with the board and Municipal Services Committee moving forward. While on the board, Switzer served on this committee and the Historic Preservation & Design Review Board.

    Switzer is a graduate of the University of Mount Union, and earned his MBA from Baldwin Wallace University.

    Michael Shirtz

    Michael Shirtz joined the Lakeside Chautauqua Staff as the Senior V.P. of Programming in 2018.

    Shirtz earned his bachelor’s degree in music and jazz studies from Capital University and his master's degree from California State University.

    He has served on the faculty for both Capital University and Terra State Community College, where he started building a music and arts program. This led to him becoming the dean of the school of business communication & arts (now formally known as the Business, Humanities, & Industrial Technologies Division).

    After leaving Terra, he moved on to the Tri-C Jazzfest and Performing Arts program, where he managed production, jazz education and community outreach. He has also managed Tri-C’s Performing Arts Series, developed and managed partnerships with Playhouse Square, DANCECleveland, the Maltz Performing Arts Center, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Tri-C Foundation and the Kulas Foundation.

    Shirtz started writing music, performing and conducting for Lakeside in different capacities, and in 2013 he became the Religious Life Music Coordinator and the Director of the Chautauqua Choir.

    Shirley Stary

    Shirley Stary serves as the Vice President of Arts Programming for Lakeside Chautauqua.

    Stary and her staff present over 70 nightly arts programs, oversee 1,000+ art classes and coordinate several other arts and entertainment events throughout the summer.

    Prior to joining the Lakeside Chautauqua staff in 2005, Stary was employed for 13 years as Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Student Activities at Ashland University. She received a bachelor’s of arts degree in technical theatre from Ashland University and a Masters in Arts in arts administration from the University of Akron. Stary has served as a Board Member for the Ohio Arts Presenters’ Network and Ashland Symphony Orchestra.

    Steve Koenig

    Steve Koenig is the Vice President of Hospitality for Lakeside Chautauqua. He joined the staff as General Manager of the hotels in 2007 and was promoted to Director of Hospitality in 2011.

    Koenig brings more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality field to his position. Along the way, he has served in management roles at Kalahari Resorts and Fairfield Inn of Sandusky. He attended the University of Cincinnati where he received his bachelor’s degree in Communication in 1985. In 2001, he was trained and certified as a General Manager by Marriott Hotels

    Sylvia Chappell

    Sylvia Chapell is the Vice President of Accounting for Lakeside Chautauqua. Chappell held the title of Controller, being promoted to Vice President in 2014. She has held other titles at Lakeside since her start in 2000, including Accountant and Manager of Accounting.

    Chappell is responsible for overseeing all of Lakeside’s accounting functions, as well as the Human Resources and Information Technology Departments.

    She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Ph.D. in Anthropology. Before Lakeside, Chappell worked in systems analysis at the University of Michigan, the Geauga County Auditor’s Office and Metrohealth Medical Center.
