Lakeside Photography Show Held in Hoover Auditorium

The Annual Lakeside Photography Show opens on Wednesday, Aug. 4 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 21 in Hoover Auditorium Lobby. The show will be open to the public from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It will also be open a half hour prior to all Hoover evening performances.

The show has been coordinated since 1986 by Joel Hagemeyer and the help of the staff at the C. Kirk Rhein Jr. Center for the Living Arts. Last year, 75 artists participated with about 300 entries. The show features 13 award categories: Lakeside, Person/People, Weather, Creatures, Flowers & Plants, Architecture, Place, Object, Humor, Black & White, Altered, Child and Teen.

The judges for the photography show are husband and wife Tom and Karen Lingeman. Tom has been the head of the sculpture department at the University of Toledo (UT) since 1979. His area of specialty is metal casting and fabrication. He received his bachelor of science in art education from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and his master of fine arts from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill.

Karen is an associate lecturer at the University of Toledo. She teaches ceramics, 3D foundations and art education. She received her bachelor of engineering in art education from UT in 1979 and her master of fine arts from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.

All entries must be received by Monday, Aug. 2 to the Rhein Center, at Walnut Avenue and Sixth Street. All photos are to be at least 8" x 10" and must be framed for hanging. Entry forms are available at the Association Office or at the Rhein Center. Email for an electronic copy.
