Hoover Auditorium Receives Exterior Facelift

Posted on December 15, 2011

Hoover Auditorium has been a hub for cultural arts for more than 100 years. Each Chautauqua season, families reconnect for Sunday worship services, gather for Lakeside Symphony Orchestra concerts or wander the lobby to view an art exhibit.

During the fall, Hoover Auditorium's exterior trim and doors were completely repainted. The project resulted in the grand Auditorium shining at the center of Lakeside. The window trim was repainted beige and white and the doors in maroon to enhance the overall historic appearance of the building. Contractors worked for over a week to update the structure.

In addition to the exterior trim work, the Hoover Fan Project, which is being funded by the Hoover 'Beat the Heat' Campaign, is underway. Staff is currently planning the installation of large, overhead fans for early April. The fans will be custom made in January by a company in Kentucky, and then shipped in time for installation in the spring. The four fans to help cool the auditorium for worship services, cultural arts performances and other events in Hoover Auditorium.
