Second Annual 'State of Lakeside' Address

Posted on June 30, 2011

Lakeside Association President/CEO Kevin Sibbring will reflect on the 2010 financial picture and vision of the Lakeside Association’s future at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7 and again on Saturday, July 30 at Orchestra Hall. The "State of Lakeside" address is a financial PowerPoint presentation followed by a time for questions.

The "State of Lakeside" address will begin by placing Lakeside in context compared to the remaining Chautauqua communities across the U.S.

Sibbring will provide updates about the launch of the Chautauqua Trail website and the idea of promoting cultural tourism.

Sibbring will talk about Lakeside as a non-profit charitable institution and review the 2010 Chautauqua program costs of annual religious, educational, cultural and recreational programs.

Later, he will outline annual revenue and expenses for 2011, employment statistics and costs related to management of guest services, and the changing trends in attendance throughout the Chautauqua season.

Sibbring will highlight the significant challenges with the aging 47 structures, including the historic Hotel Lakeside foundation. He will discuss the outcome and achievements that the Lakeside Fund supported in 2010. The Orchestra Hall enhancement project falls under this category.

In closing, Sibbring will summarize the importance of generosity and how the Lakeside Fund bridges the gap between annual revenues and expenses.

After hearing the presentation last year, Lakesider Dick Klaus commented that "this is the most realistic presentation I have heard about Lakeside in over 60 years."

Klaus added, "They did not hide or edit anything. Lakeside has never looked so great in the last 60 years."

Lakeside Chautauqua Foundation Board Chair Randy Snow explained, "It is important for individuals to understand the needs of the Chautauqua program, the maintenance and care for the many structures, as well as the ongoing need to generate additional funds to properly maintain those buildings.
