Second Phase of Hotel Lakeside Foundation Nearly Complete

Posted on December 15, 2011

Last year, Lakeside Association's Vice President of Municipal Services, Dave Geyer, uncovered a major structural problem that required three phases of work to replace the Hotel Lakeside foundation. The second phase began in November. At this time, the west lobby foundation wall is being replaced.

"Contractors ran steel beams through the exterior walls and attached the beams to the floor joists.  This allowed the contractors to raise the west wall of Hotel Lakeside so that 60 feet of new foundation could be poured and structural beams could be replaced," explains Geyer.

The level of the floor will be put back to its original height and the sub-floor will be replaced. Finally, the interior and exterior walls will be repaired and painted at the end of the project. The work being completed is very extensive and one more phase will be completed in 2012.

For more than 135 years, Hotel Lakeside has provided guests a place to stay, dine and experience the breathtaking view from the grand wrap-around porch.
