Hurricane Sandy Update

Posted on October 30, 2012

Due to the wind and rain effects of Hurricane Sandy, there has been some damage to report from Lakeside Chautauqua. The Municipal Services Department has been hard at work canvasing the grounds throughout the day as the storm progresses.

If damage has been made to individual properties, Lakeside Chautauqua will be contacting homeowners immediately.

Dave Geyer, vice president of Municipal Services, reported, “There has been some damage to Lakeside. We have numerous trees and branches down.” He added, “Some of the aluminum siding has come off of Hoover Auditorium. This is not an emergency and can be repaired.”

Waves were nearly 7’ high at the dock. The National Weather Service forecast placed Lake Erie waves up to 20’ overnight on Monday. It also reported that there were sustained winds 30-40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph. It is expected that Ottawa County will collect about 3” of rain before Wednesday.

Stay tuned for more updates and pictures as they develop. View pictures at www.facebook.com/LakesideOhio.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the many families and friends along the east coast.
