Introducing Chautauqua Park, Lakeside’s Fourth Park

Posted on April 30, 2012

Lakeside Chautauqua has owned a major wooded parcel of land along Harsh Road for many decades. Recently, Lakeside acquired nearly seven additional acres adjoining this wooded area with a goal of preserving and expanding green space while making it accessible to guests and residents throughout the year. The Lakeside Chautauqua Board of Directors voted unanimously to develop these collective parcels as Chautauqua Park, Lakeside's fourth major park.
Over time, this park will support the four pillars of Chautauqua and feature a living Memorial Garden, creating a final resting place for the cremated remains of loved ones. With your continued support, we anticipate opening the memorial garden before the start of the 2013 Chautauqua season.
During April and May of this year, Lakeside's perimeter fence line will be expanded to enclose this wooded wonderland in preparation for the Chautauqua season.
Chautauqua Park is one of the most exciting new developments in many years and we will unveil the full land use plan at Lakeside Chautauqua's Summer Opening Ceremony on Saturday, May 26. We will also be conducting several Open Houses over the Memorial Day weekend to formally introduce Lakesiders to this unique space.
The Chautauqua Park Open House tours will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28. Guests are encouraged to dress for hiking to fully experience the natural beauty of Chautauqua Park.
